Smut & Filth. Chapter twenty five.

"Once Upon A Time".

He sat on the bonnet of his car and smoked a cigarette, looking at his watch occasionally. He was waiting until he’d seen her plane depart before setting off.

He heard the noise of the jet engines and saw the blue and white liveried aircraft appear above the terminal building, soaring into the bright, blue sky and carrying her away from him. He didn’t know how long it would be before he saw her again, or even if he would ever see her again. He’d been confident she’s had a good time, that she’d enjoyed his company and, of course, sexually they were a match made in Heaven…

…or possibly a fiery, Hellish pit…

...but it had been a fairytale weekend and, once free of the fairytale, maybe she’d see sense?

The plane disappeared from view and he hopped off the bonnet, dropping the remains of his cigarette and crushing it beneath his heel. He took a deep breath before slipping behind the steering wheel. The radio sprang into life as he turned the key and he stopped before turning it that final click, a smile spreading across his face as a tune he’d only ever heard once before filled the car. He closed his eyes and rested his head back, smiling as he remembered dancing on the promenade and the rapturous applause of the birds in the trees.

The was a click and he was jolted back into the now as one of the back doors was pulled open then slammed shut. He looked over his shoulder and saw the bag on the seat.

Her bag.

Confusion spread across his face.

The passenger door opened as the rear door had before it and she climbed in, drawing the seat belt across her and straightening her skirt before turning to him with a smile on her face.

“Hey, they’re playing our song.” She turned the radio up.

“What the fuck…” He said, a smile that looked almost nervous spreading across his face. She raised a hand and placed a finger on his lips.

“Shhh, you had me at “the fuck”. Now, take me home.”

He started the engine and engaged first gear.

“Are you sure?” He asked before disengaging the clutch.

“Never surer,” She said, “This weekend’s been like a fairytale. I see no good reason to wait a minute longer for my happily ever after.”
